Attorney Sherri L. Whalen has been practicing law in southeastern Minnesota since 1993.
Sherri is a native of Rochester, Minnesota and attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and history. Upon graduation, she initially worked in Old Greenwich, Connecticut and then moved to Chicago, Illinois where she was employed with MCI Telecommunications. Sherri later moved to Minneapolis/St. Paul area to continue her career with MCI.
Sherri graduated from Hamline University School of Law in 1993. While attending law school, she was a law clerk with the Federal Public Defender’s Office from 1991-1993. She also acted as a volunteer Guardian Ad Litem for Ramsey County from 1991-1993.
After graduation, Sherri was a judicial law clerk in Mower County for the Honorable Michael Seibel (deceased) and the Honorable James L. Mork (Retired). Upon completion of her judicial clerkship, Sherri worked as an assistant Public Defender for the Third Judicial District of Minnesota, representing defendants in misdemeanor, gross misdemeanor and felony criminal defense matters, as well as children and adults in child protection proceedings.
Outside of the practice of law, Sherri has served on the board of directors for Rochester Better Chance, volunteered for Paws and Claws, is a frequent classroom volunteer in the Rochester Public Schools, and coaches for Rochester Youth Soccer.
