Attorney Derek T. Johnson is a native of Okoboji, Iowa. He graduated from the University of Iowa, located in Iowa City, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science. While attending college Derek volunteered with Meals on Wheels and Ronald McDonald House. He also held a number of governing positions in the Kappa Sigma fraternity.
Derek earned his Juris Doctorate degree from Oklahoma City University School of Law, located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. While attending law school, he was awarded the Phillips Allen Porta Memorial Legal Ethics award and was a member of the Client Representation in Mediation Team, attending the Fort Worth, Texas mediation competition as a regional finalist. Derek also volunteered time at the Juvenile Division of the Public Defender’s Office in Oklahoma City.
While Derek volunteers his professional talents by providing Pro Bono Legal Services, he also has a wide variety of activities and interests outside of law. He is a member of the Lake Zumbro Improvement Association, a member of the Rochester Water Ski Team, and participates in various athletic leagues through the Rochester Park and Recreation Department. Derek and his wife, Dana, are huge Hawkeye football fan and attend as many games as possible. He also enjoys fishing, music and gardening.
